The wind was fierce that day. Waves hit hard against the floating church in Siem Reap as Sara, Pastor David’s wife, stood there with her hand stretched out — praying, declaring peace, and rebuking the storm that threatened their village.

But in a split second, everything changed.
A thick metal cable snapped loose — whipped through the air — and struck her in the stomach with violent force. The impact threw her backward, knocking her into the lake.

People screamed. Men jumped into the dark water to save her. They pulled her up — pale, barely conscious, trembling in pain — and carried her out of the water to the muddy shoreline. From there, they rushed her to the nearest hospital.

The doctors took an x-ray but said they couldn’t find any internal damage, so they sent her home. But by the next day, her pain was unbearable. Something wasn’t right. They went to another hospital for more tests — and what they found was severe. Her intestines had been badly injured. She needed emergency surgery.

The surgeon later said that if she had arrived even one hour later, she wouldn’t have survived.
But God had another plan.

When Heaven Came Near

A few days later, our team landed in Cambodia. Pastor David met us at the airport and immediately drove us to the hospital. When we walked into Sara’s room, tears filled her eyes. She didn’t need to say anything — her face said it all.

We gathered around her bed, singing songs of healing, anointing her with oil, and calling on the name above every name. The presence of God came into that hospital room. It was thick. Holy. Undeniable.

Though eleven lives were lost that day in the storm, God spared hers. As we prayed, the Lord whispered, “Don’t fear the storm. Keep your eyes on Jesus.”

Something shifted. Her face softened. You could feel strength begin to rise in her frail body.

The Miracle Unfolds

In that same room sat a sixteen-year-old girl — their spiritual daughter, once rejected by her family. As she watched the love of God fill that room, tears streamed down her face. We prayed for her too, and suddenly, the atmosphere broke open even more.

Then it happened.
Sara, who just hours earlier had needed two people to help her sit up, suddenly lifted herself. She raised her hands toward heaven and began to pray — strong, steady, full of life.

We all wept. The joy was overwhelming.
Through tears she said, “I feel like I’m not even sick anymore.”

From that moment, her recovery was miraculous. Within two days, she was discharged from the hospital — completely healed. Just days later, she came to the conference, smiling, radiant, and full of strength. She even helped serve food to others. The same woman who could barely lift herself was now pouring out the love of Jesus to those around her.

He still rescues.
He still heals.
And even in the fiercest storms, He’s still writing stories of redemption.
