Living As God's Reflection
“Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us.” -Genesis 1:26 (NLT)
You are God’s magnificent masterpiece. He adores you. When He gazes upon you, He sees the reflection of Himself in you, for you are created in His image. Being made in God’s image isn’t about your physical appearance but your spiritual makeup. You are God’s image bearer; you have His character, qualities, and potential within you. Unbelievable, isn’t it? So, to see yourself as anything other than God’s masterpiece diminishes the Creator’s work.
I know it is not easy to fathom this reality, but the truth is that we are not ordinary; we are extraordinary. We come from the bloodline of champions. We are a new creation, a heavenly kind (2 Corinthians 5:17). We are God’s redeemed child through the blood of Jesus. We carry God’s DNA, which enables us to live a life of significance. God wants us to mimic His character in everything we do so that the world can recognize Him through our uniqueness.
However, too often, we believe the lie that we are a “nobody.” But God says, “You are somebody; you are more than you think.” Remember Gideon? He was a man full of fear and lacking in self-confidence. One day, the angel of the Lord appeared to him and said, “The Lord is with you, O mighty warrior” (Judges 6:12). I think Gideon probably looked around, confused … wh…at…wh…? Me?
Think about this for a minute: Why did the angel address him as a mighty warrior while he was living in fear and hiding from the enemy (Judges 6:11)? People might see Gideon as a coward, but God saw him as a brave hero.
You, too, are a mighty man or woman of God. You are a gift from God to your family, community, and the world. Don’t let anyone tell you who you are except God. When God sees you, He sees you as an overcomer, not a failure, just like He saw the Apostle Paul. Who would have imagined the murderer of the early church would have become one of the greatest apostles of all time? There is more in you that you haven’t seen yet.
This truth has transformed my life. It has helped me to think and go far beyond my limitations. I know that this truth will change your life as well. Don’t let what you see or what others think they see limit you. Your present condition doesn’t determine your future. Now is the time to rise and come up higher to where you belong. It’s time to make a massive difference wherever God puts you. Believe in what God has said about you with all your heart, and then you will experience the reality of His kingdom.
